The Torrelavega Choral Society was founded on September 23rd, 1925 under the direction of Mr. Lucio Lázaro. Given the difficulty of detailing the activities of its long history, suffice it to say that, in recent years, the Torrelavega Choir has made musical tours to different European countries, such as France, Germany, Portugal, Belgium, Italy and England, as well as having taken the particularities of the music of Cantabria to all regions of Spain. Besides, it has solemnized religious acts and offered concerts in several cathedrals all over the country, such as Jaén, Palencia, Sevilla, León, Astorga, Zamora, Santander, etc. and even in St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican.

At present, with its fifty members and under the direction of its conductor Mr. Manuel Egusquiza, the Choir celebrates with immense pride its one hundred years of glorious uninterrupted existence and the Cycle of Religious Music of the Caja Cantabria Foundation is pleased, in its 54th edition, to celebrate this centenary in collaboration with the Comillas Foundation in a place as emblematic and full of history as is, precisely, the Church of the former Major Seminary of Comillas.

Entrance to the grounds of the Major Seminary, on foot, as well as access to the concert, is free of charge. The access with a vehicle has a cost of two euros. This concert is part of the activities organized by the Comillas Foundation for the dissemination of Hispanic language and culture.
